Dog returned home for holidays

When the Garcia family’s pet went missing more than three years ago they had given up all hope of ever seeing their dog, Doobie, again.

The Garcias had adopted Doobie as a puppy back in 2009 during a pet adoption event hosted by Friends of the Madera Animal Shelter.

Doobie had been microchipped and later neutered. The Garcias had Doobie for about four months when he went missing from the front yard in a matter of seconds when a family member went to get something out of the garage.

“We had just given him a bath the night before, “ said Alma Garcia, “so he didn’t have his collar on.”...
