A Dixieland Elementary School seventh grade student has been recognized for outstanding scholastic achievement, school involvement, and community service, as the Madera Sunrise Rotary Student of the Month for September.
Rhys Burnthorne, the son of Lisa and Gary Burnthorne, was described as an extremely active and successful seventh-grader at the Madera Sunrise Rotary’s morning breakfast meeting by Dixieland principal Kliff Justesen, who told the membership that Rhys was an all-around person of great character. He said Rhys was kind and respectful to his fellow students and staff alike. He said Rhys is also involved in every sport at Dixieland.
Rhys earned a “prefect score” on the CST of 600 in math, and has received the Shining Cougar Award for outstanding academic achievements at Dixieland.
