A scary scene took place on the streets of eastern Madera Friday morning as an unknown assailant from a dark-colored vehicle shot at four men inside another car on a busy street.

Just before 10 a.m., four African American men were driving southbound on Cleveland Avenue near the Yosemite Avenue and Tozer Street intersection in a red Honda sedan. A dark-colored compact four-door vehicle pulled up alongside them and opened fire on the four victims, according to Administrative Sgt. Johnnie Smith of the Madera Police Department.

“An unknown suspect from that vehicle then fired shots into the victim’s vehicle, wounding all four occupants,” Smith said.

After being shot, the driver of the sedan managed to get the car — now with bullet holes in at least the passenger, driver, and rear-view windows — to the front entrance of Madera Community Hospital...
