An event aimed to celebrate and learn about the diversity in cultures and religions in Madera is slated for Jan. 26 and organizers will accept participants until that day.

The 16th annual Interfaith/Intercultural Day celebration is set to be hosted in Hatfield Hall, 1850 W. Cleveland Ave., from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

It is organized by the Madera Coalition for Community Justice.

Booths with ethnic food, cultural attire and faith displays are usually part of the celebration along with dance and music. New this year is story-telling and a video screening of a documentary done by local youth, said Lourdes Herrera, the executive director for the coalition...
