Cub Scout Day Camp sponsored by the Sequoia Council of Boy Scouts of America held annually in Madera changed locations this year, allowing for additional activities and dozens more boys to participate.

The day camp was held for about 35 years at Lions Town and Country Park in Madera but organizers moved it to the Madera Fairgrounds this year to increase security and allow more children to participate.

Seventy-five adults supervise 135 kids at the camp daily, and a handful of Madera Police Explorers help patrol the area daily to ensure the safety of the participants, organizers said.

Due to limited space in previous years, Cub Scouts from the Madera Ranchos and Oakhurst used to attend a day camp in Clovis, said Greg Coelho, the assistant cub master for Pack 112 and the roundtable commissioner for the BSA Sequoia Council Thunderbird District...
