Flu precautions already in place
Spring semester classes at Fresno State University begin today with a projected enrollment of 20,833 and staff concern about the flu.
To help combat the flu, Fresno State’s Student Health Center purchased 2,000 doses of vaccine for this season and to date has immunized about 1,750 people. The flu vaccine will be available to enrolled students for free until the supply is exhausted, said Dirk Ruthrauff, interim director of University Health and Psychological Services.
The health center waged an extensive campaign in the fall semester, partnering with the Department of Nursing to provide free vaccinations to 850 students at flu shot clinics on campus.
