Drivers arrested for DUI

Two drivers were arrested Sunday afternoon on suspicion of DUI after crashing into each other on State Route 41 in Oakhurst, blocking the north and southbound lanes.

Dorthy Smith, 72, of Oakhurst, was driving northbound on SR 41 near Whispering Pines Drive at about 50 miles per hour when her 2001 Chevy Tahoe drifted over the double yellow lines, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Dustin Fisher, 43, of Coarsegold, was driving his 2004 Toyota Tundra southbound on SR 41 at 1:40 p.m. in the same area when the Tahoe crossed into his lane. Fisher was unable to react and the left front of his Tundra hit the left front of Smith’s Tahoe.

The vehicles blocked the north and southbound lanes of the highway until authorities showed up. Smith and Fisher were both arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence, said California Highway Patrol Officer Matthew Chapa...
