The Madera Coyote girls basketball team tried to make a statement to the Central Section seeding committee with a commanding 52-26 victory over rival Madera South in the regular season finale for both teams.

The Coyotes are hoping for a No. 4 seed when playoff brackets are announced today at www.cifcs.org. To help their cause, the Coyotes limited Madera South to just 13 percent (7-of-53) shooting from the floor, including 2-of-24 (8 percent) from behind the 3-point line on Madera South’s Senior Night on Thursday.

“ I think we made the statement,” Madera head coach Jason Smith said. “We better be the four seed. We have earned the No. 4 seed in the Div. II playoffs.”
