Despite a young squad, Madera Coyote boys soccer head coach Chris Baca believes his team has a chance for a County/Metro Athletic Conference championship.

The Coyotes (9-3-5) finished second in the CMAC last season to the Bullard Fresno Knights, but Baca thinks this year’s team has what is needed to overtake the Knights.

“We are pretty skillful,” Baca said. “We are trying to win league and it can be done.”

The Coyotes overmatched San Joaquin Memorial-Fresno on Tuesday at Memorial Stadium in the CMAC opener for both teams, scoring four second half goals in a 5-2 victory...
