Supervisors tighten special-district watering restrictions
Some 6,000 customers in Madera County special districts who water outdoors more than twice a week will face up to $175 in fines after an emergency ordinance was unanimously approved Tuesday by the Board of Supervisors.
The ordinance, which does not affect citizens with privately-owned wells, holds similar language to restrictions placed on City of Madera residents at the start of this month.
The board chose to go a step further, however – while city water users are only under Stage II of four control levels and can water three days a week, special district residents are under Stage III.
In Stage III of the county’s ordinance, even-numbered addresses can water only on Wednesdays and Sundays. Odd-numbered homes can water Tuesday or Saturday. No one within the county’s some 30 special districts – which include such areas as the Madera Ranchos and Fairmead – may water Monday, Thursday or Friday...
