More people than organizers had expected gathered for an afternoon tea and to honor a longtime member of Madera Republican Women Federated.

The Friendship Tea at Seibert Ranch drew 120 people on Saturday. Hors d’oeuvres and tea were served, and raffles and a silent auction were held.

Accordionist Chuck DeFina played for the guests, who gathered in the backyard of the Seibert home.

Eleanor Newcomb was honored for being an active member in the organization for more than 25 years. Newcomb has served as the group’s chaplain for the last 15 years, and held various offices before that...
