County judge Wyatt dies of cancer at 45

Madera County Superior Court Judge Eric C. Wyatt died Saturday at age 45 after a three-year battle with cancer.

“He was an amazing person,” said his wife of 15 years, Kristina Wyatt, through tears. “He was very fair, he was very honest. He cared very much about other people and he would do anything he could to help others.”

Eric Wyatt was born in Visalia and he and his younger brother Keith were raised in Salinas. He graduated from Salinas High School in 1984 and obtained a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of California at Davis in 1988.

He earned his law degree from Santa Clara University and began his work as an attorney in Madera in the early 1990s at the law office of Mortimer and Oakley, where he eventually became a partner...
