County industry meeting planned

State business incentives to be its focus

Madera County Supervisors Rick Farinelli and Tom Wheeler are inviting manufacturing and industrial businesses in Madera County to a mid-July town hall lunch hosted by Madera County Economic Development Commission.

The meeting will be 11:30 a.m. July 15 at the Hampton Inn, 3254 Airport Drive. Lunch will be served. Attendance will costs $15 per person.

“It has been difficult for Madera County to compete for manufacturing and industrial companies” after the state dismantled its redevelopment agencies and the expiration of the county’s Enterprise Zone status, according to legislative assistant Robert Jeffers of Farinelli’s office.

The meeting will bring “experts,” Jeffers said, from the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development and the office of George Runner, member of the Board of Equalization, to present new programs since introduced by the state to provide incentives for doing business in California...
