The arts in Madera will come to life this week with musical concerts, and theater and art events culminating with the Madera County Arts Council’s 30 Year Anniversary Celebration on March 23.
To begin the celebration, the Madera United Methodist Church at 500 Sunset Ave. will host a very special community concert Friday beginning at 7 p.m. It will feature the talents of church members Willie Long on the pipe organ, Jeannette Hunt on the grand piano and Janice Lowder, soloist and emcee.
Long and Hunt will perform four pieces individually, including familiar movie themes and classical music. Together, they will play four patriotic and religious pieces. “It’s not often that one hears the blended sounds of the pipe organ and grand piano,” Hunt said. “We’re very excited to offer this music to the community.”
Vocalist Janice Lowder will perform “Danny Boy” accompanied by Hunt...
