Community colleges offer textbook rental programs

Textbook rental programs are now being offered in all of the State Center Community College District’s campus bookstores.

About 30 percent of the textbooks needed in courses are for rent and students can save about 40 percent off the original price by renting, said Mary Beth Wynn, the district bookstores’ interim assistant manager at Fresno City College.

“It’s easier for people not to spend so much money up front for books. It gives people that option,” said Wynn.

“So far we’ve gotten a very good response. Some students here at city college, at Reedley College and so forth, I think they’re happy. We’d like to rent more books out and we’re going to work on that starting next semester,” she said...
