Collision ends carjacking

In-law stabbed before car theft

An alleged carjacker fleeing from police after a family dispute caused a serious collision about 5:40 p.m. Wednesday when he reportedly ran the stop light at the busy intersection at State Route 145 and Avenue 12, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP Sgt. Michael Donnelly said investigation was still in the initial stages but the incident was definitely a carjacking and the suspect, Leobardo Martinez, 25, was in custody.

The force of the impact spun the cars throughout the intersection, injuring those in both automobiles. The driver of the other car was hospitalized.

A pursuing California Highway Patrol car was also rammed by the suspect in or near the intersection, causing a secondary minor collision. The CHP officer was not injured...
