Some local children and teenagers are planning to spend Saturday morning raking leaves in the lawns of residents who are unable to do so themselves.
The annual Rake N Run, which is set for 9 a.m. to noon, has been organized by the Heart of California Council, which operates Camp Fire USA clubs from Bakersfield to Modesto. There are 28 Camp Fire USA clubs in Madera with a total of about 200 members, said Charlene Gibbs, the office assistant at the council.
The leaf-raking service is meant to help residents who are physically unable to cope with the pile ups. Residents in need of the service may sign up by calling 673-5771.
