Club kicks off project with breakfast

Members of the Sunrise Rotary Club gathered Saturday morning at their Sports Complex to enjoy a pancake breakfast before starting work on a major project that will add a much needed amenity to the athletic venue at the east end of Clinton Avenue.

The Sweetheart Breakfast was organized by member Rebecca Janzen in honor of Valentine’s Day and included sausage, orange juice and coffee.

Afterward, nearly 20 members began work on new restroom facilities at the two softball fields. The fields have been in need of permanent facilities since their completion in 2006.

Sunrise Rotary volunteers relied on engineering drawings by member Dick Wyatt, and other individuals and businesses discounted or donated time and materials. Ernie Moosios will set the blocks, Ray Aguilar will pour the cement and Paul Sotello will lay the plumbing. Rotarian Steve King is coordinating the efforts and construction...
