Clovis man pulled from burning wreckage

A 25-year old man from Clovis sustained major injuries Wednesday morning on State Route 41, after losing control of his 2003 Ford Ranger pickup and going over the side of the highway near Road 406, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The overturned truck started a grass fire and the badly hurt man was unable to move until bystanders pulled him out and extinguished the flames. He was taken to Community Regional Medical Center.

Authorities would not release his name, citing medical and privacy concerns.

CHP Sgt. Lincoln McKenna said the pickup truck left the right hand side of the roadway for unknown reasons at approximately 60 mph just south of Rocky Cut pass and fortunately was seen by another motorist as it went over the side of the highway around 7:45 a.m...
