The graduating class of 1953 from Madera Union High School held its 60th class reunion Saturday evening at Madera Municipal Golf Course. More than 100 classmates arrived from around California, the nation and the globe, such as Bill Smith from Sidney, Australia.

On Friday, Bill and Carla Alessini hosted a pre-reunion social in their home. According to organizing committee member Shirley Morgan, attendees included a judge, a nun, a retired U.S Navy captain, and two graduates with doctorate degrees.

In addition to rekindling friendships and swapping tales, attendees had a catered dinner of steak and chicken prepared and served by golf course restaurant staff.

The organizing committee consisted of classmates Morgan, Sarah Sambueso, Bill Alessini, Nadine Bishel Barnett, Ed Hartin, Ruben Gonzales, Gil Gonzales, Coeitta Crosno, Mary Toschi and Duane Garner.
