The team Monty’s defeated Thrive, 66-56, in the championship game of the City Recreation Basketball League last week at the Millview Community Center gym.

The City Church and Company League will hold playoff and championship games Thursday at the same gym.

The victors of Wednesday’s championship game had dedicated the season to longtime manager and player, Gerald “Buddy” Warren, who passed away just prior to their first game of the year.

In the first playoff game, Monty’s busted The Clique, 50-30. In the second game, Thrive won by a score of 58-47 over M.O.B. In the championship game, immediately following, Monty’s surpassed Thrive, 66-56.
