The Madera Parks and Community Services Department initiated a test of its new online registration program Saturday, the final and busiest day of registration for the T-Ball program.

A record 286 young persons were registered that day at the department’s offices in the John W. Wells Youth Center. Many tried out the new software on a provided laptop and, with initial help from staff, used it to register their child for T-Ball.

The new software, called Activenet, will eventually replace all paper registration by late this year.

Though initially the registration procedure will seem slow, according to Parks’ Business Manager Mark Etheridge, once all the bugs are worked out and staff becomes acquainted with the system it will be a vast improvement for Madera citizens...
