The City of Madera Department of Public Works has announced a Jan. 2nd start for the annual Leaf Cleanup Program. Depending on fall weather conditions, about two months will be needed to clean up all the fallen leaves, said Operations Director Matthew Bullis.
Bullis said residents’ cooperation with city crews is essential to make the program successful.
“During the past cleanup events, the residents have been very cooperative and patient. The helpful attitude of everyone is greatly appreciated. The Leaf Cleanup Program is a huge task, which requires a major effort on the part of the street maintenance division,” he said.
The city will be divided into 10 sections and each area cleaned of leaves in priority order. Then the cycle will repeat until all leaves are cleared. The 10 areas have been prioritized based on past experience, said Bullis. Cleaning will start at Section 10 (Yosemite Avenue/Memorial Stadium/Pecan Avenue/State Route 99) and move clockwise to Section 1. To see the map, visit the city website at www.cityofmadera.org...
