Citizen’s tip nabs three suspected of stripping wire

Sheriff John Anderson credits a Madera County citizen with the arrest of two women and a man suspected of stripping 500 feet of power line that belonged to Union Pacific Railroad.

Bonnie Baker, 53, and 45-year-old Bret Harmon, both of Madera, were arrested Saturday. A third suspect, 46-year-old Terrie Metzler of Chowchilla, was arrested Sunday morning.

The Madera County Sheriff’s Department received a tip Saturday that three people appeared to be stripping wire in a vineyard near Avenue 12 and Highway 99.

Nearby, 500 feet of electrical wire had been stolen from Union Pacific Railroad...
