A long-standing political feud between two factions of the Picayune Rancheria of the Chukchansi Indians has taken a dramatic new turn.

New members of the Tribal Council, elected Dec. 3, have finally taken over tribal offices after a nearly three-month standoff with the previous council.

Morris Reid, the newly elected council chairman, said Monday that the tribal dispute was at least temporarily at a standstill.

The new council took physical possession of tribal headquarters Sunday night, ending a deadlock which had included guarded barricades being set up to keep the newly elected council members out...
