Today is St. Patrick’s Day and the California Highway Patrol is gearing up to catch impaired drivers.
“We’ll be out in full force, bringing in extra officers to make sure the roads are safe, and everyone makes it home, and has a good holiday,” said Madera CHP officer Mark Cosentino.
The CHP and other local law enforcement agencies encourage residents to find non-drinking drivers who can provide a safe ride home from holiday festivities.
“There are more DUI arrests on holidays because people get festive and don’t make good decisions,” Cosentino said. “Making the decision to drive after you’ve been drinking could actually result in taking someone’s life or your own life.” ...
