State corrections will not move inmates until September
Male prisoners will not be moved into Valley State Prison for Women in Chowchilla — at least not until September, according to a stipulation signed in court Wednesday morning.
Chowchilla city attorney Tom Ebersole and California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation attorney David Aladjem came to an agreement Tuesday night and Judge James Oakley signed their stipulation in Madera County Superior Court.
According to the document, CDCR will not move any men into VSPW until September and no female inmates may be moved out of VSPW for the purpose of converting the prison.
The agency must also provide a list by Jan. 27 of proposed physical modifications to the prison to make the conversion. (Women inmates may be moved as part of normal prison operations.) ...
