Children sustain injuries in collision

A school bus with 11 Madera High School students on board struck a car stopped on 4th Street, just east of I Street, according toCalifornia Highway Patrol spokesman Officer Mark Cosentino.

Four children were slightly injured in the Tuesday afternoon collision, which happened about 4 p.m.

The driver of the car and a male passenger also sustained minor injuries in the crash. The driver ofthe car was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, upon his release from the hospital.

According to officers, the bus was eastbound at approximately 25 mph when the car in front of it, a 1995 Oldsmobile suddenly slowed to turn and stopped...
