Failure to yield is being cited as the cause of a two car collision that seriously injured a 12-year-old girl at the intersection of Gateway Drive and Cleveland Avenue, according to Madera Police. A younger child sustained minor injuries and their mother was also taken to Madera Community Hospital for treatment.
The family was northbound on Gateway Drive in a Toyota station wagon Tuesday evening just before 7 p.m., when a driver in southbound car failed to yield and turned to go east directly in front of the Toyota.
Officers estimated the speed of impact at close to 40 mph.
