Children’s Hospital patients treated to event before Disney On Ice

Children’s Hospital patients and their families made Halloween treats, learned about safety and met Mickey Mouse before he took to the ice on Disney On Ice’s opening night in an event sponsored by local law enforcement agencies.

Many of the 36 kids who participated in the Wednesday afternoon event have battled cancer, and they were happy to interact with other patients outside of hospital walls.

“Josef loves to do things connected with Children’s that have nothing to do with his health,” said Lisa Bath, whose 9-year-old son beat leukemia. “We’ve made friends with people from the hospital so it’s nice to stay connected with people in the cancer community while doing these fun things like Disney On Ice.”

Josef Bath, of Clovis, was diagnosed with leukemia in 2009 at the age of 5. He finished his last treatment, ridding his body of the cancer, in July 2012...
