A four-day camp for young adults diagnosed with muscular dystrophy has asked volunteers to sign up and help make the trip more memorable for a growing number of guests.
Set up by the Madera-based Justin Woods Foundation, the fourth annual Adult Muscular Dystrophy Camp brings together those 18-and-over, both with and without the disease, to participate in several summertime activities such as hiking, swimming, and stargazing at the 80-acre Tuolomne Trails location near Yosemite National Park.
Sandy Smith, Woods’ grandmother and a foundation official, said she was encouraged by increased participation this year but more help is needed.
“We have more adults than counselors this year,” Sandy Smith said. “Every camper needs a counselor for whatever they may need while out there.” ...
