Locals are set to celebrate the legacy of the late Cesar Chavez, a man who marched through the Valley decades ago with thousands of people rallying to him, hoping to obtain higher wages and better working conditions for field laborers.

Cesar Chavez Day is observed on March 31 annually in the United States.

The nonprofit organization Madera Coalition for Community Justice has set the 20th annual Cesar Chavez Day celebration for 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday in the cafeteria of Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School, 601 Lilly St.

Anthem Blue Cross is also sponsoring the event...
