Raymond ranchers John and Molly Combs have been selected Cowboys of the Year by the Madera County Cattlemen’s Association. They will be honored at MCCA’s Fall Dinner at 6 p.m. Nov. 8 at the Coarsegold Community Center, 35530 State Route 41. The event is open to the public. Those interested can contact Michele Lasgoity at 217-2985 or Brad Ruble at 689-3499. The MCCA will also honor Cattleman of the Year Assemblyman Frank Bigelow.

“We are very honored to be recognized at our age to be Cowboy and Cowgirl of the year,” said John. “My wife was just elated. She is my right hand working with the cattle and horses every day. I was really honored to get the award for her, more than for myself.”

MCCA President David Gill will preside over the festivities to include a choice steak dinner fixed by the Young Cattlemen of Fresno State. The evening will include a hosted bar, silent auction and raffle. Proceeds benefit various MCCA-sponsored youth programs. Results of the Madera Fair Carcass Contest, in which 4-H and FFA participants submitted their beef projects for evaluation, will be announced.

“We are pleased and honored to receive these awards,” said Molly. “John has taught me so much about the cattle business. We have a great life.” ...
