Although local award-winning rancher Will Gill Jr. doesn’t do much much physical labor these days, his vast knowledge and wisdom certainly keep operations running smoothly at Will Gill and Sons Inc.

The lifelong cattle and horse rancher feels confident about what he taught his children, David and Judy, who now run the 10,000-acre GillAdobe Ranch with his guidance. His grandson, Landon, also helps in the ranch.

“My kids all stayed with the family and they learned something every day,” he said.

They grew up in the business, as did Gill Jr., who was buying and selling cattle for his father, Will Gill Sr., in the Los Angeles Union Stockyard by the time he was 15...
