OAKHURST — A bold vehicle break-in may have caught the attention of Oakhurst residents and business owners, but that wasn’t enough to catch the suspect, according to authorities.

According to sheriff’s spokeswoman Erica Stuart, the suspect was described as a white male, possibly in his 20’s, wearing two-toned camouflage shorts and a black sweatshirt. Shortly after 8 a.m. Friday morning, he smashed the window of a vehicle near an inn on State Route 41 in Oakhurst and then took of running.

He could not be found afterwards “despite an exhaustive foot search through the Oakhurst community,” Stuart said.

Anyone who may have information is urged, she said, to call the Sheriff’s Office at 675-7770.
