Classic cars lined the schoolyard of St. Joachim Elementary School, while food, drinks, desserts and raffle tickets were sold in the first-ever show of its kind to raise money for college-bound high school seniors.
Organized by parishioners, the idea of raising money to buy laptop computers and printers for Catholic students came from Fr. Carlos Esquivel, OSJ, said chairwoman Jackie Lobach.
“There’s a committee and all Catholic students have to do is submit their names to the committee and be ready to go to college this year. What we raise is how many we’ll give out and we’re hoping to give quite a few out,” said Lobach.
She did not have the amount of money raised available during the Saturday event, which was attended by nearly 400 people...
