Car crashes through Yosemite Pharmacy

Authorities are still trying to determine who’s at fault in a collision where an SUV hit a storefront on D Street and Yosemite Avenue. Three people were involved, but police are not releasing their names.

A green Ford Explorer knocked down a traffic light, a pay phone, a Madera Tribune newspaper display rack and smashed a window of Yosemite Pharmacy, 135 E. Yosemite Ave., on Wednesday night. Witnesses said a blue Ford Expedition rear-ended the Explorer, which spun out of control and hit the pharmacy. Police are still investigating.

“Right now, it’s kind of a cluster. We’ve not had something like this before. The investigation is continuing and we’re still trying to determine the fault of the collision. Whether it be that of the other vehicle (Expedition) that was parked down the road or the actual driver of that vehicle (Explorer) that hit the pharmacy,” said traffic officer Jason Green.

Neither driver was arrested or suspected to be driving under the influence of alcohol and no injuries were reported, Green said. The driver and passenger of the Explorer fled the accident, he said...
