Madera Classic Cars, a group of automobile and truck enthusiasts, will hold a raffle next month to benefit one of its members who is fighting cancer.
Longtime club member and Madera resident Henry Torres, 56, a self-employed mechanic and owner of a 1965 Chevrolet Impala he restored himself, is battling stage four liver cancer. According to organizer Cindy Diaz, he was diagnosed in May and Torres has no funds for medical and other expenses.
“Now that he can’t work he has no income, nothing,” said Diaz.
The club, which meets for car shows at Walgreens on Cleveland Avenue on designated Fridays throughout the spring and early fall, will raffle a barbeque grill at its final car show of the year Sep. 27 beginning at 6 p.m...
