Cancer kickoff fundraiser set for Tuesday evening

A mixer is scheduled Tuesday at Central Valley Community Bank to kick off Madera’s Relay For Life fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. The mixer is sponsored by the Madera Chamber of Commerce and begins at 5:30 p.m. at the bank at 1919 Howard Road.

The public is invited and it is a good time to register, either as an individual or a team, and join the fight to defeat cancer. In addition to Relay registration, there will be raffles with more than 50 door prizes, no-host beverages and hors d’oeuvres.

Information on the Relay will be available during the evening and 2012 chairwoman Hopemarie Ornelas and co-chairwoman Charlotte Brewer will present updates on the current number of teams for this year’s event, recent news, and upcoming activities prior to this year’s event.

The 2012 Relay For Life is co-sponsored by the Madera Parks and Community Services Department and is scheduled for May 5 and 6 at Lions Town & Country Park. The community-wide, 24-hour event brings together more than a thousand citizens to raise funds in the fight against cancer...
