Caltrans to erect median barriers along SR 99

Work goes on in Central Madera as well

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will begin construction of median safety barriers on State Route 99 tonight. This will require lane and shoulder closures.

The project will begin at 6 o'clock with the placing of temporary concrete railing for the length of the project’s limits, just north of the Califa underpass to Avenue 24. The work will take place during the day from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. or at night from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. and will be handled by Coral Construction Company, Inc.

Caltrans officials could not be reached to comment on how long the construction will last.

Meanwhile the Madera 99 Rehabilitation Design-Build Project continues on SR 99 in Central Madera. A northbound and a southbound lane will remain closed nightly, along with the highway ramps, from the Gateway Avenue overcrossing to the Ellis Street overcrossing. This will be from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. throughout this week. Granite Construction Company is handling the reconstruction of the concrete and asphalt concrete roadway and shoulders within that section...
