Man who asked for medical help missing

A man who called 911 two days after breaking his legs while tending to a marijuana grow in North Fork led deputies to nearly 11,000 plants but was nowhere in sight.

Agents with the Madera County Narcotic Enforcement Team (MADNET) spent Thursday night bagging 9,183 pot plants in an area off Road 200. Based on evidence left behind, agents believe the operation was tied to a Drug Trafficking Organization.

By dark Thursday, Madera County Sheriff’s deputies suspended their search for the man, who identified himself only as Jose. He called authorities at 10:19 Thursday morning saying he was in bad shape and needed medical attention.

A second search team returned Friday morning to find an additional 1,600 plants, but did not find the man...
