Business is hopping for IHOP

It was National Pancake Day at IHOP on Tuesday, and the restaurant — formerly known as the International House of Pancakes — on Cleveland Avenue was at its busiest. Even between the usual breakfast and lunch rushes, the parking lot was full with the cars of patrons.

The first IHOP opened July 7, 1958 in Toluca Lake, Calif. Now there are 1,500 locations throughout the United States with 99 percent operated as independent franchises. The first “international” IHOP opened in Dubai in August 2012.

Madera’s IHOP offers an extensive menu and IHOP’s variety of syrup for your pancakes. Beyond its regular weekday schedule, the restaurant offers food 24 hours a day on Friday and Saturday.
