Bridges to be moved, bit of SR 99 widened

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has issued an alert for motorists and recreational water users that work remains under way along a 2.9-mile segment of the Route 99, a six-lane widening project in both Fresno and Madera counties.

This $68 million project includes the addition of two new lanes within the median along SR 99 from just south of Grantland Avenue in Fresno to just north of Avenue 7 in Madera County.

The existing San Joaquin River (SJR) bridges will be replaced and shifted to the west.

This project is anticipated to be completed in summer 2016...
