A valleywide fundraising effort for a mentor program will kick off locally next month. More than 200 in Madera, Hanford, Visalia and Fresno are expected to support disadvantaged youth by collecting pledges and taking part in a bowling competition.
The 26th annual Madera County Bowl for Kids’ Sake fundraiser is set for noon April 6 at Valley Bowl, 12829 State Route 145. The money raised in Madera will fund activities for members of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Madera County, said Cynthia Cooper, the special event coordinator for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central California.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central California works to increase educational levels, strengthen families and increase positive youth development through mentoring relationships between adults and children. The nonprofit organization has served more than 9,500 children in the Central Valley since 1969, and depends on donations to help recruit volunteers and reach more children.
