The annual Bowl For Kids’ Sake fundraiser to benefit the Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring program is scheduled for noon Sunday at Valley Bowl, 12829 Highway 145.

Each person on five-member teams raises a minimum of $70 in pledges from their employers, family and friends. The funds help to provide Central Valley children with professionally supported 1-on-1 relationships.

Locally, according to Big Brothers Big Sisters, statistics show that of the children matched with a mentor through the agency, 95 percent improve in academic performance, 91 percent are more prepared for school and 100 percent experience a boost in self confidence.

During the bowling event, raffle prizes ranging from restaurant gift certificates to gift baskets will be given out to participants. Additionally, there will be prizes for highest score, best dressed team, “Twinkle Toes” (most creative bowling technique), and “Party Pin” (rowdiest team). A Try-Another-Sport award will be given to someone who loves helping kids, but does not excel at bowling...
