Board hears support for agreement on water

“Brown is the new Green,” said Madera County Planning Director Norman Allinder as he gave support to a plan to form a county-wide joint powers authority to manage groundwater in Madera County.

He was speaking to the Board of Supervisors during its Tuesday meeting.

“I don’t water my lawn,” he said.

The supervisors voted unanimously to enter into talks to form the joint powers agreement with the cities of Madera and Chowchilla, several irrigation districts and independent water agencies…
