Block party is start for new Neighborhood Watch

A Neighborhood Block Party served not only as a way to get together for residents on Wessmith Way, but also as a celebration of the re-establishment of their Neighborhood Watch Program.

The gathering in the 700 block of Wessmith Way drew about 60 people on Saturday. Children excitedly surrounded a fireman and a police officer as each showed them their respective work vehicles.

Councilman and mayor-elect Robert Poythress also attended the afternoon party.

“It’s my pleasure to be here today and I look forward to enjoying the festivities this afternoon,” he said. Poythress commended the residents for their efforts in creating a safer neighborhood and getting to know their neighbors...
