Gov. will appoint new District 1 member on Board of Supervisors

Assemblyman-elect Frank Bigelow, the Madera County District 1 supervisor who won his race against fellow Republican Rico Oller of San Andreas in the new 5th Assembly District, was rushing to take care of final campaign business Wednesday afternoon.

“I’ve been picking up campaign signs,” Bigelow said by phone from Coarsegold, “and I’m running behind. I have to get to Sacramento by tonight.”

He said he expected to be on the run from now on, with meetings in Sacramento and elsewhere, and fulfilling his job as District 1 supervisor, which he has held since 1998.

He said when he leaves his job as supervisor, the vacancy will be filled by gubernatorial appointment. He wasn’t sure when that would occur...
