A semi-truck driver caught and wedged a 10,000 volt electrical power supply line on the top of his trailer on Avenue 17 1/2 near Road 26 and kept driving — according to the California Highway Patrol. No injures were reported.

The incident happened about 5 p.m. on Tuesday evening as the driver was pulling into his neighborhood from Avenue 17 1/2 to Regal Drive. It cut power to the neighborhood and resulted in a fire that burned a utility pole.

The continued forward motion of the semi truck snapped and pulled down the major line, and also a tangle of about five more other small, live residential lines as it drove through the neighborhood. The dangling lines were dragged behind the truck about a block and a half further down to the 17000 block of Regal Drive.

Telephone and cable TV wires were also torn down. Power was disrupted to the area for about five hours...
