Nearly 1,000 pot plants — grown in violation of Madera County marijuana cultivation rules — were seized and destroyed by authorities Thursday.
The plants were found at a home near Avenue 26 and disposed of by agents from the Madera County Narcotics Enforcement Team (MADNET) and Madera County Code Enforcement.
Madera County Sheriff’s spokesperson Erica Stuart said the plywood structure used to grow the plants was nearly two football fields in length.
“They were irrigated by an in-ground pool,” Stuart said. “It looked like the grow was on at least 10 acres of land.” ...
